    Abstract
Rice is an important cereal crop consumed by almost half the world population and is vital for global food security. Bacterial leaf streak , which is caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola , is a devastating rice disease in Asia, Africa and Australia. Like other Xanthomonads, Xoc utilizes the type III secretion system to translocate effector proteins directly into host cells to suppress plant immunity (Nino‚ÄźLiu et al., 2006; Yuan et al., 2021).
